Support Services

Nursing Service

The Nursing Services Department provides support to clients in all services. Nurses complete all the required Health Risk Screening Assessments annually or more often if indicated. They monitor the medication administration records located in the homes and at the center, check all medications for accuracy against prescriptions and administer medication as indicated. Doctor appointments are scheduled and the results of the annual client physicals are evaluated.

Staff training on a variety of medical issues relating to individuals with developmental disabilities is done on a continuous basis. Annual training in CPR, First Aid, HIV, Hepatitis B, Bloodborne Pathogens, Infection Control and Universal Precautions is also provided.

The nursing staff is also on call 24/7 for residential services.

Social Work

A master’s level social worker provides behavioral supports to clients as well as specific staff training. These supports can range from a positive behavioral support plan, behavioral protocols, a contingency plan for residential clients receiving psychotropic medication to plans for individuals during extreme emergencies. Staff training and modeling related to building healthy relationships with clients and understanding the crisis cycle are provided annually. Supports are available as needed to residential clients receiving psychiatric services that require ongoing interactions with the psychiatrist.

The social worker is also available to our residents and residential staff after normal working hours and on weekends, if needed. Admissions to Hi-Hope services are managed by the social worker.

Transportation Coordination

Transportation services are contracted by the Georgia Department of Human Services to provide transportation to and from Hi-Hope and community worksites on a daily basis. Hi-Hope provides Transportation Liaisons to assist with any transportation issues that may arise. These individuals are the managers of each client’s service.

Saturday Respite

On the 3rd Saturday of each month Hi-Hope Center is bustling with activity. In collaboration with Georgia Community Support and solutions and Spectrum Autism Group, staff are available to provide respite activities for children and adults from noon – 4:00 p.m.

Additionally, two programs to build social skills for youth and for adolescents with autism are available. This is partially funded by a grant from the CarMax Foundation.
